Understanding the Risk Score

What the risk score measures and how to act on it.

1 min readLast updated

What it measures

The score summarizes the contract's exposure: how one-sided the terms are, how costly the escalators and fees are, and how much of the risk sits with you.

How to read it

A lower score means fewer or milder issues. A high score doesn't mean "don't sign" — it means specific clauses deserve negotiation before you do.

Drill into the detail

Every score is backed by the individual flags listed underneath it. Read those before making a decision.

Improving your position

Use the flags as a negotiation list. Many escalator, cancellation, and transfer terms are negotiable before signing.
